CEO's Column

Massoud AlibakhshWelcome to the fall edition of e-Nues, the quarterly newsletter of Nuesoft Xpress. As the temperatures drop and the leaves begin to fall, your thought s may well be turning to the coming season: flu season and budget season, that is – a busy time for most student health centers!

How would you be prepared if this winter, instead of one of the usual strains of flu hitting your campus, the much more deadly H5N1 swept across the country? This issue of the newsletter examines the steps that college health centers should take to ensure their preparedness for a pandemic flu outbreak as well as the ways that you can help mitigate its impact in advance.

If you’re gearing up for the usual struggle with campus decision-makers over how much money your health center should be allocated in 2008, take a look at our checklist for preparing for a budget presentation. Additionally, if you missed Brenda Dalton’s excellent Webinar entitled “Making a Business Case for Your Health Center” last month, which was full of hints and tips to get the budget that your health center deserve, you may be interested to know that the session was recorded and can now be accessed online at www.nuesoftxpress.com/webinar.

I am also delighted to announce that we will be hosting a series of online roundtables on the college health issues that matter to you. Whether you’re looking for other health directors’ input on campus health insurance, HPV vaccinations or how best to get publicity for your health or counseling center, these hour-long sessions will allow you to share your knowledge with other college health professionals. Guest chaired by experts, it’s a great way to draw on the resources of your colleagues without even having to leave your desk!

We are always interested to hear your feedback, so if you have any comments or would like us to cover a particular topic in a future newsletter or roundtable, please e-mail us at editor@nuesoft.com.

Sincerely,
Massoud Alibakhsh
